My All Time Favorite and the place which is close to my heart for plenty unsaid reasons. Beetrootin’ at ABC Farms should be your resolution for the year 2017 – get your date, your gang or even family and bask in the ‘Beetroot Vibe’.
Pavan Hemrajani, the brain behind Beetroot has done a remarkable job with the brand. Having been a regular at the Koregaon park outlet which begun operations in November 2014, I literally know the items on the menu by rote. The ‘Marcella Wine Chicken Pizza’ and the ‘Garlic Butter Prawns’ can get me salivating at any hour of the day. Besides the exceptional food, Beetroot Bistro is captivating with a sense of calm that a lot of its contenders lack. I actually call it the ‘Beetroot Vibe’ which in a word is ‘addictive’.
It was an amazing experience when I was recently invited to sample some of the dishes from the ‘New Menu’ which is scheduled to go live soon! Special mention to Chef Sadashiv Lad and Sanghamitra Shastri for being exceptionally good hosts, and making me fall in love with this place all over again.
I am a fan of cozy cafés and bistros but a bigger fan of places which just let you be, where you can enjoy complete solitude.
Greece meets Goa at this outlet of Beetroot Bistro. Hues of ‘white n blues’ will transport you straight to Santorini and the wooden decks are an instant reminder of Goa. The décor is easy on the eyes yet well spaced & sturdy in appearance.
Hospitality & Pricing: (4/5)
Probably one of the most pocket friendly places to hangout in the koregaon park-mundhwa stretch. Great mix of finger food and mains with an affordable spread of drinks.
The service is spot on with a very proficient staff on their front. It has never been a disappointing experience at Beetroot, ever.
Menu : (4/5)
Chef Sadashiv Lad, the one-man army behind the scrumptious delicacies served at Brand Beetroot is a man full of zeal and passion for good food. His zest to outdo himself is evident in what he serves which comes as a blessing to all those dining here.
Here is a glimpse of some droolworthy items that Chef Lad dished out for us!
- Roasted Bell Pepper & Tomato Soup (4/5)
I am not an avid fan of soups. Soups come knocking to my door mostly during sickness and rarely in health. But, this thick concoction of roasted bell peppers with tomato comes as a relieving break to the monotony of tomato soups. It has a certain smoky flavor to it and is more heavy on your palate than you expect it to be. #HiglyRecommended
- Jamaican Chicken (5/5)
My new favorite at Beetroot. A delightful dish and a must-have for chicken lovers. A spicy flavor with a tinge of sweet, Chef Lad nailed it with this one. One dish that you can’t miss (thank me later)!
- Roasted Chicken (3/5)
Succulent chicken thighs, topped with the in-house barbeque sauce and served with mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies on the side. The serving portion is filling and do not hesitate to ask for another helping of that ‘yum’ sauce in case your chicken gets a little dry. A special mention to the ‘mashed potatoes’ for being super- creamy with a strong buttery aroma, that lingers. It totally steals the show in this dish.
- Fungi Risotto & Prawns (4/5)
A beautiful contrast to the dishes already served. The fungi risotto is low on spices but not at all drab. The prawns add just the leverage you need, the helping is generous so you don’t have to go ‘fishing’ for your seafood here. Those who have a taste for risottos would definitely love this.
- Fruta Di Calzone (3/5)
A truly exotic dessert. The baked calzone stuffed caramelized fruits and served with a Nutella & Blueberry dip. This was the first time when I tried a ‘sweet’ calzone and it definitely was a saver. Admirable attempt by Chef Lad to create a Nutella & Blueberry fusion which makes you go weak In the knees.
